TOMATO SAUCE FOR VEGAN PIZZA | Vegan Recipe

TOMATO SAUCE: This is an essential sauce that you must have at hand when you want to make a good vegan pizza, since it only contains organic products. You can make more or less concentrated, according to your own taste. You also have the option of putting in the freezer in an ice cube tray and using it whenever you need in any recipe you’d like.

TOMATO SAUCE

INGREDIENTS:

– 8 to 10 medium Tomatos
– 2 medium Onions
– 6 Garlic cloves
– 1 tsp Beetroot powder
– Basil and dried Thyme at taste
– Olive oil at taste
– Salt and Pepper at taste
Optional:
– Dried Rosemary at taste

PROCEDURE:

– Cut the onion and the tomato in 4 pieces
– Leave the garlic’s skin and cut only a little bit on the edges
– Put it on an oven tray with baking paper
– Sprinkle with olive oil, salt, basil, and the dried thyme
– Put it in a preheated oven between 30 to 40 minutes at 200 ºC
– Then let it cool down a bit and put it all in a blender
– Add a tsp of beetroot powder
– Put the dough in a cooking pot so it gets thicker
– Add salt and pepper after the sauce is ready
– Pass it through a strainer to eliminate the tomato’s seeds and skin, while the dough it’s still hot
– Let it cool down, and then you can put it in the freezer or use for any recipe you want

NOTE:

– If you can’t get beetroot powder you can use mashed beetroot; 1 tsp at a time until you get the color you want the sauce to be
– Leave the onion’s skin and cut only a little bit of the edges
– Pass it through the strainer while it’s hot because this way it’s easier to remove the seeds and the skin from the sauce
– If you make it more concentrated and put it in the freezer in an ice cube tray you can use it latter for other recipes who require tomato sauce
